My Table and I

It is the last day of our long public holiday - the 4 days CNY holidays. We didn't have any particular plan. Only I have couple of projects of my own. One of it involving a really hot day and a hard work.
One of it, is called "Project Meja Tulis". Those who knows me would know that I have this thing about British author and the 18th century era where Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte and etc are famously known for their writing. Virginia Wolf would be in the early 19th century, if I'm not mistaken (got to do more homework on that part).
These writers would have a small writing table by the window and would be writing away their feelings or ideas at that table. Therefore I would like to have one of my own. My own small writing table so that I can write or blog about anything I want.
Few months back, one of my old friend posted pictures of her husband's handy work. He uses left unused palette wood to make rack for their flowers pots. I was thinking how hard can it be. All I need is few planks of wood. Nail these planks to each other, paint them and wallah.... should be ready to be used.
So first step, I asked my friends about the palette wood. She said I need to go to the factory and collect them myself. Some of them selling this wood at a cheaper price.
Well, I guess it is my lucky day because my neighbour's son brought these wood but does not use it so she gave it to me. And since her house is just beside my house, it was easier to transfer the wood to my porch where I can begin my handy work.
What made it more easier, some of the planks are nailed together just as I wanted it to be so that I could have a flat piece to make my table top. Now all I need is four pieces of  plank for the table legs.  Two of the planks are longer than the other two so I have to saw them to the right height.
There are times we thought we still have the same strength we have 20 years ago. Well, this is one of the times. I was practically sawing the plank like a mad woman and I only manage to cut 1/3 of the plank. On top of that I was sweating like a pig. With the determination that I still have in me and with the vision of the table that I want, I continue sawing and 1/2 hour later I manage to complete 1 miserable plank. Pffff!!!!!
Guess who came out to have a look when I about to start the second plank.... my other half. He took the saw from hand and he managed to saw it within 15mins. Then only I realise the way he do it is much more subtle compare to how I do it.
With that, I assembled the leg and call it a day.
Later that that night I have a terrible pain in my arm. I guess because my right arm muscle was in shocked after the heavy duty work I made it do. Whatever it is, I managed to complete my DIY writing table though it looks awkwardly high and so plain, I am still proud of myself.
